doug’s week! we did basically a whole bunch of hazards mapping, which was a nice break from bedrock mapping 🙂
day 1

first day we spent out at quail creek res looking at the dam and surrounding geology to predict why the dam failed (evaporites!)

day 2

today we went back to the gap to look at 3 canyons (including coal canyon) and 4 total potential dam sites. it was cool 🙂 I was dead tired for some reason though, which was tough!!
parker, dylan, and I were in a group but we took no pics 😦
actually I took only like 3 pics the entire day!! wtf

day 3

today started soooo fun and then got like absolutely miserable and hotter than hell
we went to silver reef where they used to mine for silver and other things, and there were like a million mines, it was sick

we climbed into a couple little abandoned mines and it was hilariously fun

we saw so many old mine shafts that had been covered up, it was pretty cool. but this was one of my hardest days of field camp because of how hot it was. it was also the only day I drank all of my water before the day was over. still very fun and cool, but man, it was tough! thankfully, we went swimming back at quail creek res after 🙂

day 4
back to silver reef to finish up!

it was a much better day today!

day 5

today was pretty fun, we were landslide mapping up I forget the name of the canyon. me and hayley worked together, which was super fun, esp bc we had some venting to do…

we also went to dinner at a mexican restaurant, which was slightly awkward for some reason, but overall very fun 🙂
this was our last night, so we played some cards, and doug joined us 🙂 it was super fun!! we also saw a ufo??? or at least some rocket launch that was kind of crazy!!
I was so excited to see Jordan and be home, but also so bizarrely sad about the week ending.
day 6
we were supposed to go do another half day project this morning, but ended up not doing it! doug was worried people would be upset we stayed the night before when we didn’t need to, but I think we were all just glad to be going home!

I have stories, but I’m not sure if I can share them publicly lol. that’s how you know it was a good week!
